I have been looking for a long time to find a postive book about menstruation for my almost pre-teen daughter and her little sister (for the future) I am so glad to have found Passage: A Girl's Guide! The subject matter of menstruation is presented in a frank and factual manner, while maintaining a body-positive message for young women. Additional bonus is the thorough discussion of reusable menstrual products, and cultural celebrations of womanhood around the world. I highly recommend this book to everyone!!
I am so glad I found this book. I was looking for a book that explained menstruation and body changes for my daughter, but many books add in unnecessary U.S. cultural norms like information about shaving your legs and or armpits that my daughter shouldn't have to think about or make a decision about at her young age. I just wanted a book that presented menstruation abd body changes in a positive manner so she could prepare herself mentally for the things coming up in her future. I also really appreciate that the book mentions using cloth pads in addition to traditional U.S. Disposable products and highlights the difference between standard tampons and organic, unbleached tampons. Thank you for offering this book!
