How to Use
To Use GladRags Washable Menstrual Pads:
1. Place 1 or 2 of the inserts inside the holder.
2. Turn your GladRag over. Snap it around your underwear. The tag side goes next to your underwear and the smooth side goes next to your body.
3. Change your GladRag (holder and inserts) about as often as you would change a disposable pad.
4. Follow care instructions for washing.
Cleaning & Care
After use, separate the inserts from the holder. Soak in cold water to help prevent staining. Adding an enzyme cleaner to the soaking water may help protext against staining. Machine wash cold and tumble dry low using natural soap or detergent; please do not use chlorine bleach. You may hand wash pads if desired. Remove pads from dryer promptly and store flat to eliminate wrinkling; use cool iron if desired. Store your pads in a clean, dry area.
When away from home, place your used pads in a GladRags Carry Bag or Wet Bag until you return home, then wash per care instructions.
Inserts: cotton flannel, cotton terrycloth.
Holders: cotton flannel, cotton terrycloth, organic cotton care label, nickel-free snap.
How do I use GladRags? Why the 3-part design?
Each GladRags Day or Night Pad consists of one holder and two inserts. To assemble, slip the inserts inside the holder, like a letter inside an envelope; then turn the pad over (so the smooth side goes against your body and the tag side against your underwear) and snap the "wings" of the holder around your underwear.
When you use both inserts, it is a maxi pad. When you use one, it's mini for lighter day. If you are having an extra heavy flow day, you can place a third insert in the holder for a super maxi. It is easy to get the pads clean because you take the inserts out for washing.
How absorbent are GladRags?
GladRags are very absorbent. The inserts are made with a layer of terry cloth sandwiched between the two outer layers of cotton flannel. The daytime holders are made of two layers of cotton flannel, and the inserts slip between each layer, like a letter inside an envelope. Each GladRags pad comes with 1 holder and 2 inserts, and you can opt to use as many as 3 inserts with a holder for your heavier days.
The night pad holders are wider at each end and longer than the day pad holder, and also constructed a bit differently: the holders also has a layer of terry cloth sandwiched between the two layers of flannel, making the GladRags night pad even more absorbent front to back for your sleeping comfort.
The pantyliners are shorter than the day pads and have absorbent terry cloth sandwiched between two layers of cotton flannel.
How many GladRags cloth pads do I need?
Menstrual cycles vary greatly from woman to woman. Most women use 6 to 12 day pads and 1 to 3 night pads and maybe supplement light days with pantyliners. It all depends on your flow and how often you do laundry. Change your GladRags as often as you would change a disposable, and remember: a pad consists of the holder and two inserts, and so you must change the whole thing, not just the inserts.

I can't believe they don't sell these everywhere!
By: Erica from South Royalton , US on January 20, 2013
"When did we become so entrenched in our values of convenience and so disconnected with our own waste? Maxi pads and tampons are all disposable, so we don't have to ever look at them. Yet, they are expensive and they accumulate and add to our massive human waste stream.
Glad rags should be on shelves everywhere. After use, just soak, scrub, and rinse. It dries in a few hours. I switch between two rags - it's the best and most convenient thing ever! "
Happy Customer for over a decade!
By: Erica McNally from Trenton, NJ US on August 14, 2012
"I have been using Glad Rags pads and liners for over ten years. I am thoroughly satisfied with their product! I am happy about how many pads have been kept out of landfills and how much healthier the products are for me than commercially available disposable pads. Thank you for your continued excellence in providing a great product that is good for women and the environment! "
Best overnight pad
By: M22B from Middlebury, VT US on August 19, 2012
"The title says it all - this is the best overnight/postpartum pad I have used. It has the best coverage by far of any other brand out there - cloth or disposable! The customizable absorbency combined with pre-set-up convenience (you can "assemble" the pad ahead of time so you're not juggling loose pieces while you're sitting on the toilet in a public restroom!) are an added bonus. When I used these after my children were born, after using disposables for a couple of days, these were such a welcome relief - so much more comfortable and breathable!!"
Love the prints
By: KK from Akron, PA US on October 15, 2012
"I started out with a few all organic cotton pads some 6 years ago and my stash is growing into a beautiful rainbow. Love these pads. Love the contact with the routines of life and getting back to basics. The Overnight Pads make me feel secure that I won't leak--a major problem I had as a kid. Love being able to just purchase the holders as I made the mistake of using hydrogen peroxide bleach one time and totally destroyed my pads."
So glad I found Gladrags!
By: smargo from Boston, MA US on August 26, 2012
"I have used this product for years and am so happy that it is still made to the same high standards as in previous years. I literally wear my Gladrags out -- after many years and multiple wearings and washings, they had finally become a bit threadbare, so I had to replace the holders. My new ones are as wonderful as the old ones (and in a cool print) and I plan to wear these out, too. "
Wonderful customer service
By: KK from Akron, PA US on October 15, 2012
"I was so excited to be able to purchase just the holder as I seem to have compiled a stash of inserts. They somehow got missed on the order, but customer service was AWESOME, shipped them immediately with a note and gift."
Extra holder great idea!
By: M22B from Middlebury, VT US on August 19, 2012
"I love Gladrags because they can be put together with just the right thickness ahead of time, so I'm not juggling loose pieces in the bathroom. Now that my original pads are ten years old, I've found that the absorbent liners are mostly in great shape, but some of the holders were worn out, so it's great to be able to replace just the holders. Some other brands of pads have slightly softer fabric (although the newer Gladrags are softer than the older ones I have,) but I appreciate the quick on and off of the design and great absorbency, and find myself reaching for these first. "
Keeping my panties clean and fresh every day
By: smargo from Boston, MA US on July 9, 2012
"I discovered Glad Rags after the birth of my first child 12 years ago and I am so happy to have ditched disposable pantyliners from that point. Glad Rags are economical, safe and earth-friendly. I will continue to use them until menopause (and beyond then, if needed). "
Part of my very first GladRags dot com order, was very pleased with them too! :)
By: kandyappless from lexington, KY US on September 2, 2012
"For my very first order on gladrags dot com website, these were one of the first item(s) that I selected along with an overnight pad which fits snugly and doesnt move around while you are sleeping, leaving you wondering what you will wake up to in the morning worrying! Id like to add that all the pad products Ive used (havent tried cups yet but will soon) since a few months ago all fit snug and yet are not one bit bulky nor uncomfortable even when wearing them jogging during the 90 degree summer heat. Ultra comfortable and ultra protection is a definite when I use these as back up and the others I ordered too. I also ADORE the ton of different styles/designs they give you to choose from, I had trouble picking out which 2 or 3 I wanted the most LOL no joke! Id say by the end of the year Ill have em all though! :)"
Only Pads I use now.
By: KMG365 from Leo, IN US on October 11, 2012
"I wish I had had these extra long overnight pads 30 years ago. They are so soft and pretty plus they save me a bundle. I use them on my lighter days and as a backup when I use tampons. It's nice to have something around ALL the time when you just want to be prepared for the unexpected. No ruined clothing or late night runs to the store."
