The DivaCup Size 1 is designed for women under 30 who have never given birth (vaginally or via c-section), while the DivaCup Size 2 is meant for women who HAVE given birth (vaginally or via c-section) and/or women over 30.
Made in Canada from soft, medical-grade silicone, The DivaCup is another great form of internal menstrual protection. This hypoallergenic reusable menstrual cup collects the flow rather than absorbing it, so the vaginal tissues aren't dried out as they can be by disposable tampons Comfortable and convenient, The DivaCup can hold up to one ounce of fluid and should be emptied several times a day. Detailed usage instructions are included with your order.
Please note: the DivaCup cannot be returned.
Wash your menstrual cup with mild soap and water before reinsertion. At the end of your cycle, wash and dry the menstrual cup before storing it in the drawstring fabric bag provided. Do not store your menstrual cup in a plastic bag or airtight container. At the beginning of your next cycle, thoroughly wash your cup with mild soap and water before using. You may also choose to boil the cup in an open pan for up to 5 minutes.
Always refer to the User's Guide that comes with your DivaCup for specific directions regarding cleaning and care.
To use a menstrual cup:
To insert a menstrual cup, press the sides of the cup together to fold the cup in half, then fold in half again. The rim of the cup will now be held in a "C" shape. Gently insert the cup rim-first into the vagina to where it feels comfortable. After some practice you will learn how to most comfortably position your menstrual cup. The cup will pop open during insertion.
Menstrual cups are commonly emptied between 2 and 4 times per day. You will learn how frequently to empty your cup depending on the heaviness of your menstrual flow. Before removal, thoroughly wash your hands with soap and water. Squeeze the base of the cup between your thumb and forefinger to break the seal. If you cannot reach the stem or base of cup, bear down with your internal muscles to help push the cup downward. Gently pull the cup downward at an angle, holding it carefully to avoid spills. Empty the contents of the cup into the toilet.
Always refer to the User's Guide that comes with your DivaCup for specific directions regarding use.
At first I hesitated...for years. But I am glad I finally became a DIVA. I love the Diva cup...so simple...so green...and so worry free...once you master the swirl. Insertion is easy enough, but the swirl guarantees a good fit and no leakage. The cup must be rotated a few times after insertion (the swirl) to assure the lack of the dreaded spill (or as I call it, the cup running over). Heavy flow requires emptying more regularly and a private bathroom are required for greatest cleanliness. Now that I am a DIVA, I will never sit in my monthly puddle in pads ever again!!!! Swirl baby swirl! :)
I bought my Diva Cup, Size 2, almost 5 years ago. I had awful, painful, super heavy periods that would make me put my life on hold. I would have to change Super Plus tampons ever 30 to 45 minutes for most of the 6 days of my period. I decided to give the cup a try. This cup has changed my life. My period is down to only 4 days long. I don't have the cramps or PMS like I use to. I do have to empty the cup more often than 12 hours, but my flow certainly isn't as heavy as it use to be. I am only reviewing the Diva Cup as it is the one I have but ANY cup is worth a try. This one sits comfortably and I forget I even have it in. It is amazing that I almost forget I am having my period. So worth the buy!
I was a little apprehensive about using the Diva, but wanted to stop putting loads of disposable products in a landfill every month. It turns out my fears were unfounded and it worked wonderfully! No leakage at all. The only difficulty came the first time I tried to take it out -- read the directions carefully!
Hello, I spent about two months googling about menstrual cups, asking my friends, and being generally on the fence about them. However, I have taken the great leap--to be totally honest, I am wearing it right now. I cannot feel it, it does not bother me, there is no leaking, and I love it. I can give you no reasons not to do it. There are none, it is the most genius innovation of the last however many years. Since sprinklers were invented, probably. I was even worried that the sizing would be wrong, but I did as they recommended and got the smaller one and THEN was even worried it was too big! I will say give yourself a few practice rounds before wearing it out to just get the positioning right and to make yourself comfortable with your Inner Love Tube. Enjoy life, fear not death, and rejoice for menstrual cups!! Huzzah, Delia
I love using the Diva Cup, and I hope I never need to go back to using tampons and pads. At first, it was super messy. However, I got used to taking it out and putting it in. It is so comfortable that I even completely forgot it was there for a day. Oops! That was the first time I ever leaked with the product. (And I have a super heavy flow.)
Easy to put in. Just make sure to twist. Important to clean yourself afterwards to prevent spread of any bacteria.
I am trying to make life as easy as possible and care for our environment. This product is super comfortable and there is no waste and less trips to the store !
I love the reusability/environmental friendliness of the cup, and once it's in comfortably, it's great. However, it's difficult to get in comfortably- despite the fact that I've had it for months, I often have to try several times- it often forms a suction before properly opened, making it painful to twist, so that it opens properly. Otherwise, it will leak.
This is the best thing I have ever purchased in my entire life. I no longer dread the days of my period, because my Diva Cup makes it so much more bearable. I'm not sure if it's a coincidence, but since I've been using the Diva Cup my cramps aren't nearly as bad as they used to be. I love that I can leave it in for up to 12 hours, it makes having my period and going to work a breeze. I love not having to worry about whether or not I need to change my pad or tampon. Prior to learning how amazing menstrual cups are, I hated sleeping during my period because I would often bleed on the sheets during my sleep. Not once has this happened with my Diva Cup. There is a bit of a learning curve to using it, but once you get used to it, it doesn't take much more time than using tampons or pads. I recommend to all my friends the Diva Cup and how wonderful it is. Not only is it better for your body and the environment, it's also good for your wallet!
I cannot believe how exciting periods are now. It was actually my boyfriend who changed my mind. He has always been super supportive, and mentioned a lot that his mum used reusable pads, and possibly cups. I always thought it was gross and unhygienic. (I remember getting these scary mental pictures that resembled something of a rather distorted pad of DOOM!) But we frequent this nice all natural store, and they had all sorts of alternatives. I had recently gotten quite curious from a feminist blogger we watch. So we came back and got some. Now life is so much better. The cup is amazing, I love it. Learning to use it was fun. We giggled together as I attempted different folds, and he read the instructions out. And finally it popped into place. I have never thought of going back. The pads are fantastic too! If price is a concern, and you already have some supplies, try taking the money you would usually put towards disposable products aside for six months, then order online. :)
