Say hello to XO Flo! With proper care and use, your XO Flo can last for years of period protection that's better for your body and the environment.
XO Flo is a soft, internally-worn reusable menstrual cup made with body-safe medical grade silicone. XO Flo collects (rather than absorbs) monthly menstrual flow. Your XO Flo may remain in the body for up to 12 hours at a time, unlike a tampon which must be changed more frequently.
When removing the XO Flo, grip the stem as high as possible, as the smallest bead is there to help you locate your XO Flo, but is not designed to be tugged.
What makes XO Flo different?
This solves ALL of my major complaints that I have with the previous brands of cups that I have used...no outer ring pressing on my urinary tract all day (I get UTIs easily), the stem is super comfortable, and because of it's shape and sturdiness, it hasn't started to slide out while using the bathroom, and the seal doesn't break just by shifting my seated positions. It does require a little extra work to remove since it fits so securely, but it's better than the alternative!
My first cup experience was with a moon cup and I loved it but I did have some discomfort from the rim and stem. XO Flo solved those problems for me. The only problem I had was that XO didn't pop open as easily as the moon cup so the first time I used it, it leaked. It does stay up and not slide down as easily as the moon cup. Overall a great design and another excellent tool for a trash free period!
This cup is FANTASTIC! I've been using cups for nearly 20 years and so far, this one is the most comfortable. It opens slowly (folding with the "O" in first) and doesn't "slap" me "in there" when it opens. It also stays put! The little beaded stem is not even noticeable. The stem has been bothersome to me before. I am sensitive to the rubber in some cups and this one is completely unnoticeable so far.
I received this just in time to be able to use it. The first day I had no issues with inserting it even though it is a bit larger than the other cups I have. I was able to wear it for about 9 hours without emptying it and I didn't feel it at all. The second day I had a lot of cramping and bloating, so I had a harder time inserting it and I had very mild discomfort throughout the day. To be fair, I experience this with every cup I've tried. Because of that, I don't think I got it placed correctly and it did leak. I was able to reinsert it and it did not leak from that point on. The think I've loved most about this is how much it can hold. I have a fairly heavy cycle and most cups I have to empty every 2 to 3 hours, but I was able to go 9 to 10 hours with no leaking. It does seem to stain quite easily like other cups that are a similar color. That is easy enough to clean though. If these do well, maybe gladrags will offer them in other colors?
I have used a Lunette size 1 for nearly 10 years and was very happy except for leaks and irritation upon inserting/removing. I bleed extremely heavily for only a few days hence leaks likely being an issue with any cup. The XO appears huge next to a Lunette, but t wears comfortably, and those leaks? Gone! I think it has to do both with the higher capacity and shape/smooth sides of this cup. The overall U shape and smooth sides for me seem to ensure a much better seal. I DO notice some mild urinary tract interference...easily overcome, and not at all causing long term issues. I will say the smooth exterior of the XO makes it extremely comfortable to wear and insertion and removal cause no irration at all compared to other cups with external ridges or rings. Regarding the tail, I fully expected to have to trim it based on the overall larger length compared to my old Lunette, but so far, no trimming necessary. I am SO happy to have this and wish this product were available years ago.
I hadn't used a cup before because I have interstitial cystitis and my doctor thought a cup would put too much pressure on my bladder to be comfortable. The description of the pros to this design made me think it was worth trying. I found it surprisingly easy to insert, and I was not very aware of it inside me. I did find it difficult to urinate with it in, but that's not surprising since my urinary tract is always inflamed and sensitive. I bet for someone with no pelvic pain conditions would find it extremely comfortable. I also have vulvar vestibulitis, which means the area around my vaginal opening is often inflamed. I usually use sea sponge tampons, and they can hurt to insert or extract sometimes. Overall, this cup didn't seem to irritate my vestiublitis. I did need to trim the stem off since my tissue is so sensitive. But overall, a very encouraging experience with a menstrual cup.
I have the original Moon Cup, but I was really excited to try this since it said it would alleviate the pressure on the bladder (I HATE that feeling). This thing is gigantic. Like, it is so huge that I cannot get it to open all the way when I insert it, which means that most of the time, I have to take it out and reinsert 2-3 times before I can get it to seal correctly. I love that I don't have to empty it during the day, but it's just so huge that it's uncomfortable - even without the rim, I still get the pressure on my bladder because of the width of the cup. I cannot find an easy way to insert it, get it to open, and get it in a proper position. It's basically luck everytime. Pretty disappointing - hopefully they'll come out with a narrower one for those of us who haven't yet experienced childbirth.
As someone who bought the past menstrual cup design, this new one is a great improvement! It's more comfortable, much easier to remove, and has less edges that previously I found poked uncomfortably! My only complaint is the larger size, which is both a blessing and a curse. It needs less emptying, which is great as someone who isn't comfortable doing so in a public washroom and is now able to wait till home. However, I find that the seal isn't quite as tight as the previous iteration and it leaks more, and I worry it's because it's not always opening fully when inserted due to the new width. That said, I did tend to leak with the older cup purely because my cycle is very heavy, so it's nothing new to me and really not a huge deal, just something to keep in mind for smaller bodies. Overall, the new cup is totally worth it. It does it's job just as well as my last and I feel safe using it! Highly recommend making the change from pads/tampons if you're comfortable with it!
I had my eye on gladrags for a while because I'm an avid reader of OJST. So when I decided to finally buy a cup, I came here first. I'd watched plenty of various reviews of different cups and was prepared for the worst-- however, when I finally started using the XO Flo I was pleasantly surprised. There was no discomfort, inserting or wearing. It sealed properly every time and was easier than expected to remove (I tug the stem and then pinch the bottom of the cup to easily break the seal). This was actually much smaller than I anticipated but it worked just perfectly and was so comfortable! The only reason I can't give 5 stars is that one of the beads on the bottom broke off while I was trying to remove the cup. The stem is just too thin for that last bead to hang on for very long.
The new XO Flow has really worked out some of the biggest design flaws in most other cups. The stem is amazingly comfortable (to the point that I never feel it). The inner rim is genius. It makes the cup leak free, and this is the first cup I've ever felt "pop" open when inserted. The first time it surprised me, but now it makes for a perfect seal every time. My only issue has been breaking that seal, which because of the round base, I find a bit more difficult than other cups. Thank you GladRags for this great cup!
