About Us

Our Story

GladRags is a small business with big ideas: to make cloth pads and menstrual cups go mainstream and empower menstruators everywhere. From our office in Portland, Oregon, we ship comfortable, thoughtfully-designed reusable menstrual products to customers all over the world. Our menstrual cup, XO Flo, and full range of cloth pad styles provide menstruators of all types with body-friendly, versatile options that they can rely on for years.

Inspired by the simple utility, earth-friendliness, and comfort of cloth diapers, GladRags was founded in 1993. It began just a few miles from our current office, as a home-based business that quickly outgrew the extra bedroom. We've made many exciting changes over the years, but our mission has remained the same: to provide high quality, sustainable products to positively transform the experience of menstruation.

GladRags champions period positivity by displacing disgust and disposability with celebration and reusability. By reinforcing that menstruation is normal and educating the community about reusables, we erode the myth that periods should be shamed and hidden. As a result, reusables have rapidly shifted from “alternative menstrual hygiene” to an option that’s increasingly being embraced by the mainstream, particularly as the benefits like cost savings, concern for the earth, and the desire for a more comfortable period are being heralded by a growing GladRags online community.

GladRags is proud to be a certified Benefit Corporation since 2012. As a woman-owned company that insists on a sustainable approach to business, we use local bike delivery to receive finished goods from our local sewing partner, pay meticulous attention to supply chain and waste reduction, and put our company values of environmentalism, inclusivity, and body positivity into the very heart of the GladRags brand.

Our Mission

Our mission is to positively transform the experience of menstruation through reusable menstrual products and relevant education.

The GladRags Team

Tracy Puhl

Tracy was hired at GladRags in 2009 and quickly discovered her knack for the period business. In 2011, she became the owner of the company at just 24 years old. When taking a break from changing the world one pantyliner at a time, Tracy can be found reading, running, volunteering as a "Big Sister" or with hospice patients, or telling people to look at how cute her cats are being right now.

Whether you're emailing us with a question or calling to place a GladRags order for your retail store, Meagan is here to help you have a happy experience! Meagan is often accompanied to the office by her three small dogs, and has been known to carry over twelve tubes of lipstick in her purse at one time. Outside of the office, she can be found infusing bourbon and practicing her enviable make-up skills.

We ship a lot of cloth pads and menstrual cups, and Eliana is in charge of making sure they all make it to their final homes safe and sound! Although we're super proud to be made in the USA, Eliana is one import we absolutely adore. Hailing from America's hat, this Canadian packs up pads for customers around the globe. When she’s not at GladRags, you’ll find her perfecting her homemade pizza recipe.

Office Pugs

Penny, Roger, & Riggs

These three pooches bring a much needed canine presence to the team. Though Roger is wary of jazz music and elephants, nothing else gets in the way of his dedicated daily begging and finding the best heat source he can curl up next to. Riggs, on the other hand, takes a more direct managerial hand, leaping into unsuspecting laps for impromptu meetings (also: neck scratches) and making sure we meet the daily treat ball quota. And Penny just doesn't stop moving.

Friends & Supporters

By day, Kelli is a social media maven cracking period jokes on the GladRags Facebook. By night, she's a ukulele-playing, costume-wearing, Pacific Northwest explorer. Kelli is the whirlwind behind Mamore Communications, where she expertly tells the stories of your favorite small brands. Kelli has two awesome kids and an orange cat named Buffalo Sauce. We have no idea what her natural hair color is, but we're pretty sure this isn't it.

Pictured here with hubby Bruce at the GladRags 20th anniversary party in 2013, our founder Brenda is an inspiration to the younger generation of menstrual revolutionaries. Although Brenda's no longer officially part of GladRags -- she's moved on to pursue her blossoming art career -- she'll never be out of our hearts! There for us when we need advice, moral support, or just a happy hour cocktail with a good friend, Brenda will always be an honorary GladRags team member.
