Don't Just Take Our Word For It:

Customers praised these reusable cloth pads for comfort and eco-friendliness, with many saying they're "so soft" and eliminate irritation from disposables. Most found them absorbent with no leaks using one insert. However, some experienced leaking issues, particularly overnight. The plus-size option was appreciated. Cleaning requires time but is manageable.

These are fantastic! I used to use the best “cotton” disposable pads I could find at the store but they were never very breathable and by the end of my period I was always itchy or irritated. These are the exact opposite. If you are using the heavy (2 insert) the bulk takes a little to get use to, but the regular (only 1 insert) is super comfortable and not really any thicker than a normal pad. I’ve had no leaks only using the 1 insert and no irritation. Highly recommend!!

This was a great starting place for me as someone who had never used reusable pads before. I personally like the day pads. I got the unbleached cotton and they are so soft! Definitely comfortable. I was so happy that they had a plus size option. I would recommend the kit.

        Leaks everywhere. Very disappointed.

Purchased the product because of the rave reviews and because my old cloth pads (different company, no longer in business) were getting old after years of faithful, reliable service.
I got a surprise period with heavy flow. Great, a chance to use my new GladRags pads. Well, night pads leaked all over. The day pad likewise leaked through. I've basically bought expensive pieces of cloth with snaps that don't prevent leaks.
Now that I have the gift of three pairs of underwear stained from all the leaking, I might use those plus these leaky pads for night use only. Definitely not going to risk staining my clothes by wearing these during the day.

        Hi Andrea,
I'm sorry to hear you've had a disappointing experience so far! Our pads are 100% cotton, meaning they don't have a waterproof layer that could be considered 'leak-proof'. However, they are made to be very absorbent and hold up to a heavy flow. We'll be getting in touch with you to dig a bit deeper into this issue!

Like a Regular Pad, But Without the Waste

I succeeded in having my first zero waste period thanks to GladRags, but despite that I will say it was an adjustment. I have some issues that I think might come with any reusable pad brand. Since there is no adhesive to keep your pad from staying in place, it was a little annoying to have to adjust it every time I used the restroom. Other than that, it's about the same comfort/discomfort you'd get with a disposable pad just without the waste at the end. I will continue to use and hope that I become more adjusted!

        I should not have hesitated . . .

Hello there! I have been struggling for years with pesky, unpredictable flow patterns--so light I think I'm done one moment to "ARE YOU SERIOUS?! I just bled through underwear, shorts, and pajama bottoms to hit my clean sheets" -heavy. I also struggle with between period spotting and discharge--meaning my underwear was regularly taking a beating. I loved this kit to try out GladRags' variety of pad types available--I particularly LOVED the night pad. Most store-bought plasti-pads give me rashes by the end of my period, but with the night pad, not only was I covered (the best amount of coverage for a plus woman I've ever seen) but I also had NO after-period rash (so comforting). This pack was a great intro to what they offered--and I plan on buying more of each to finally ditch the disposables. Awesome for the environment, but so great for my sensitive skin and my large derriere. Also also: their cleaning tips make laundry a breeze. Who knew cold water soaking could do so much to get out blood stains? (Clearly not me lol.)

        Finally completely switched!

I've been using a menstrual cup for 2 years now, but still needed pads or liners on occasion to protect against leaks. I've wanted to try cloth pads because what's the point of using a cup if you're still buying disposables? After getting a sample liner and pad from Glad Rags, I was hooked! I purchased the starter kit with cleaner kit and couldn't be happier that I have finally given up disposables for good. The cloth pads are more absorbent, more comfortable and feel like I just have on panties. I love the fact that they are quiet and dont feel like I'm wearing plastic! I was able to use this set for my entire period and do a wash at the end by using the bac out and soaking pail. Make the switch!

        Best Decision Ever

I had seen a post recently from a friend about cloth pads. I had never thought much about them but disposable pads always irritate me and cause infections. So I bought this kit last week and my period is almost over and I am OBSESSED with cloth pads. They are so comfy and non irritating. I will say, the washing and making sure you have the right pads clean and dry is time consuming but worth it because you can always order more! They seem to be made pretty durable as well. I will definitely never use a disposable pad again. Definitely worth every penny!

        Makes me feel great

It is important to me to limit the amount of trash I produce on a daily basis. When I found out about the chemicals inside disposable pads that are inevitably being absorbed into women’s systems I was determined to make the switch. Gladrags pads made it easy. I love the snap that keeps them in place (I can’t tell you how many times I would get absolutely red in the face sitting in the bathroom trying to get my pad to stay in place!) So far no lasting stains have been made. I bought the mesh laundry bag, bac out lemon cleanser & menstrual cup. My process - Rinse/soak in the sink after use w/ water, wring out, splash a little bac out cleanser on trouble spots, roll it up w/o rinsing & stash in my Lucille bag. Repeat this process while incorporating the cup. The laundry bag made separating them from laundry (as not to dry them) simple. They dry quickly on pants hangers. All in all - love the pads & not contributing to our global issue of
        one-use disposables.

        So Happy With My Purchase

I have been trying out cloth pads for several months. Glad Rags have become my favorite! I will never go back to disposable pads & liners again. Using a menstrual cup with cloth pads (in case of leakage) has become my new norm. I wish I had found Glad Rags years ago. This variety pack was a great way to decide which sizes and types of pads I wanted to invest more into. I've found that the pantyliner plus and day pad plus are the ones I use the most.

        New to cloth- very pleased!

I am new to the world of cloth pads and was definitely nervous. But I decided to buy the sample kit and try it out. I love it! I'm sorry I didn't make the switch sooner! Some personal/specific information; I only have heavy flow for 24 hours and my entire period only lasts 3 days. If I were someone with a very heavy, long period, this pack would not be enough. I find that during my period I'm washing these daily or every other day to ensure I have some always clean. I really love the pantiliners and wear them daily. They stay in place, are super comfortable, and are adorable to boot! I would definitely recommend these! I have recommended them to several of my friends already!

Wish i had made the switch years ago!

I got the limoncello print.LOVE IT! I am a heavy flow gal (like leak all they way to waistband at night) and i didn't have problems getting the stains out. Buncha Farmers is a great, long lasting value! Love the liners for everday and period. Night pad made for a very comfortable sleep compared to disposeables. Want to order more. Try it! Great value!

        Happy Buyer

I like my order, it arrived quickly and I like the designs. It takes some getting used to all that extra fabric in your pants and I'm always a little nervous it will be visible but it's probably not. I really like the stain remover that was included in the kit, it makes washing much easier. The only thing I don't like about the cloth pads is I ordered the plus size accidentally and they're much too big. And with only the one clasp they don't feel very secure in my underwear. But generally, I like my cloth pads and it has changed the way I think about my period. And it just feels great to know you've had a waste-free cycle!

        Just Spend the Money!

Once I heard about these I debated because of the cost--we are a single income family and these seemed like an unnecessary purchase. I did some figuring and realized that financially and landfill-wise these are a necessary purchase! They are so comfortable and absorbent. Haven't had a leak yet. I thought I'd be grossed out having to clean them but it truly hasn't bothered me at all. My only issue has been trying to figure out where to hang them to dry so that everybody in the house doesn't have to see them!

        Just made the switch

I was very impressed with the Overnight Pads for my day wear and the Day Pads Plus for regular flow.
I leaked through using the Overnight Pads for overnight wear. I was disappointed

Top 5 Questions From People Thinking About Switching:

        Will they leak?

They do not have a plastic liner in them, they will eventually leak through (like a tampon!). How fast you bleed through them depends on how heavy your flow is, and also how thin your menstrual blood is.

Use one insert for light flow and two for moderate flow, and change pads as you would a disposable, and you'll be worry free!

        How do I wash them?

Lots of people worry they'll be hard to wash. But it's easy! You can just machine wash and dry with your normal laundry.

There's more extensive laundering information below and you can make it as much of a process as you want, but it can really be as simple as that.

Are cloth pads bulkier than disposables?

Most customers say that they feel softer and more comfortable than disposables.

Can we talk about ... odor?

The elephant in the room: Are they going to smell?

Cotton breathes better than plastic pads and does not contain any chemical gels. So our pads do not have that gross 'disposable pad' smell that everyone hates. Most people worry that reusable pads will be like that x10, but they're not.

If you empty out your carry bag of used pads daily, smells are generally a non issue. You can also rinse your GladRags out with cool water before putting them in the laundry if you do notice anything.

Why do most people start with a kit?

        • Save more than buying individually
        • Make the transition easier by having what you need onhand at all stages of your cycle
        • Get a cute, PFAS-free, waterproof carrying case so you're always prepared
        • Change can be hard, but it's much easier if you start with a SYSTEM, and not just a few pads.

        FAQ

HOW MANY PADS DO I NEED?

Most people start with 8-12 pads and have to wash 1-2 times during their cycle. If you're new to cloth pads, we recommend a Cloth Pad Starter Kit (or Starter Kit Plus), using that for a few cycles and figuring out what else you need to complete your collection.

        HOW LONG DO THEY LAST?

We guarantee our pads to last at least 5 years with proper care. Hundreds of customers have told us that their pads lasted at least 10 years before they replaced them (or menopause started)! Personally, I've been using the same pads for over 12.

Our cost savings estimates are all based on 5 years of use, but if you actually use them for 10 years, imagine how much more you'll save!

CAN THEY BE USED FOR LIGHT INCONTINENCE?

They sure can. While GladRags were originally designed for menstruation, it didn't take long to start hearing from customers that they were being used for light leaks. That's not something we talk about enough as a culture, but light incontinence impacts 1/3 of women! They're a wonderful alternative to disposables.

Most people find that the pantyliner plus is the perfect light incontinence solution. For a little more peace of mind (or the ability to swap out the insert for a new one), the Day Pad is the other go-to option.

        CLEANING & CARE

Caring for your cloth pads is simple. Follow our easy step-by-step instructions to ensure your GladRags will stay in great condition for years to come.

Easy care: Machine washable with standard detergent. Designed to retain absorbency and shape wash after wash.

Detailed Cloth Pad Cleaning & Care:

After use, separate the inserts from the holder. Pantyliners do not have inserts.
Soak in cold water, if desired, to help prevent staining. Use the presoak function on your washing machine, or soak in a covered rust-proof container. Change soaking water daily.
Machine wash cold using a natural detergent and tumble dry low or line dry. Do not use bleach or fabric softener. You may hand wash pads if desired.
Remove pads from dryer promptly and store flat to eliminate wrinkling; use cool iron if desired. Store your pads in a clean, dry place until next use.

Avoid using detergents with fabric softeners or whiteners/brighteners as these can inhibit the absorbency of your cloth pads. Try these plastic-free, non-toxic laundry detergent sheets from our friends at Zero Waste Cartel! Be aware that soaking your cloth pads in water with additives such as hydrogen peroxide can degrade the fabric and lead to holes. For this reason, we recommend utilizing stain removers as spot treatments and do not advise soaking cloth pads in water treated with peroxide-based stain removers.

We do not recommend the use of castile soap, facial soap, or other soaps not intended for textile laundering. Excess detergent may lead to build up, which can limit the absorbency of your cloth pads. While we have many customers that use homemade detergents with great success, cloth pads laundered with homemade detergent are not covered under our warranty. Full warranty information is available here.

A note about staining: Soaking your GladRags in cold water or pre-treating with an enzymatic cleanser immediately after using are two simple ways to prevent staining. However, light staining does not indicate that your laundered cloth pads are not clean or sanitary!

To clean your GladRags Carry Bag, simply wipe the bag with a damp cloth or machine wash cold, then air dry or tumble dry low.
