I purchased these because I have allergies to regular pads which I use at night for incontinence, I needed a cotton pad. These are working great, They don’t make me break out, like i used to with other pads. Thank You.

      Perfectly absorbent!

I purchased the cotton flannel multipack, and I'm very happy with how absorbent these pads are! The cotton was so soft and breathable, and nothing leaked through the layers onto my favorite underwears! I was so comfortable this week!!

Pros and Cons After 3 Years (Okay Mostly Pros)

I ordered GladRags back in the beginning of 2020. Ironically, I didn't know I was 3 weeks pregnant when I ordered them, and it was about a year before I was actually able to use the pads I had ordered. Here's what I've found I like and don't like about them in 3 years of use.

      Pros:
They work! They absorb a surprising amount of blood, so I have been able to change my cloth pads during the day at what I feel is a reasonable rate for period care.
They don't get smelly while you're wearing them like disposable pads do, even with sweat and heat.
They are soft and don't chafe my inner thighs or catch on pubic hair.
Well-made; been using them for three years for every period and none of them have broken or come apart at the seams. I look forward to seeing how long they keep it up.
Versatile absorbency; I can layer two or three pads and/or inserts on the first days of my period and nothing soaks into my underwear if I keep an eye on it, but on lighter days I use just one pad at a time safely.
Fairly easy to care for once you've gotten used to adding them into your laundry routine. Nothing complicated about laundering them.

      Cons:
Sometimes a pad will slide out of position and get wedged at the back or front of my underwear; I have to surreptitiously wiggle it back into place or just go into a bathroom to reposition it if I'm out in public. Doesn't happen every time I wear one, but it's frequent and could use some design innovation to stay in place. Possible the newer pads with a different shape don't do this as much, but keep in mind I'm reviewing the pads made in 2020.
Using reusable cloth pads while traveling can get a bit messy and takes a lot more work and preparation than using disposables. It's not impossible by any means, but it's certainly more difficult when you have to think about how much space they take up while traveling, whether you'll take the time and materials to hand wash and air dry them on the go, or if not, how you will store dirty smelly pads until they can be washed.

All in all, they've been wonderful reusable pads, and I've recommended them to friends and family when commiserating over the woes of our monthly scourge. The pads make some aspects of my period a little better. And that's worth it to me.

      GladRags Made soooo Well

So far I’ve had a great experience with the pads I’ve purchased from GladRags. They seem so much better quality than I expected. I’ve used them through two cycles, I think they will last me a really long time with as durable as they seem. I’ve soaked/ rinsed them and rubbed them with the stain remover sold on the website (seriously that stuff works wonders) and then washed them in the machine, with an extra rinse cycle, and air dried them. I’m shocked at how much they seem to hold and how well they’ve washed up. I was shocked that the stain removed cleaned them up so well, my husband said they still look brand new. Very happy with my purchase.

      Florida heat tested!

I have been wanting to switch to cloth liners as a back up to use with my cup, and I am so glad I finally switched! These pads and liners are so much more comfortable than even the thinnest disposables. Florida heat and humidity would contribute to heat rashes and embarrassing sweaty odors with disposables, but I have not had that issue with these. Now the hard part, not buying them in ALL the colors lol

      The Best!

I'm so glad I purchased the value kit! I am working on reducing my trash production, and I would feel bad every time I used a disposable pad. I decided to get the organic pad kit. The pads are super comfortable and stay in place, even when I go running. The bag that comes with the kit is cute and well-made. The quality of the products is worth every penny. Very happy with my purchase!

Totally love them but one suggestion

I have had this set of pads for over a year and I love them. I bought them as part of a broader effort to reduce my trash creation. They have many more benefits, though, including being much more comfortable than the disposable kinds and they have really felt like an investment as well as I have been able to stop my repeat purchases of disposable pads.
My one important, albeit seemingly obvious piece of criticism is that the light-colored ones get more visibly stained over time. There simply should not be light colored ones at all. My favorites are the black and maroon ones because they look as cute now as when I bought them. I also noticed that if I scrub them too hard, they eventually become less soft. If they were darker colored, I could be more gentle with them while not having to worry about them accumulating visible stains.

      I'm hooked!

I bought the Light Flow set in Dark Colors after getting the pantyliner promotion to test out cloth pads. The cloth pads are so much more comfortable than disposables, even in the warm summer weather. They are easy to clean and the dark colors don't show stains. I am still getting used to rinsing my pads out in the public restroom at work, but it's so worth it. I like the variety of shapes and sizes so that I can use what I need on any given day. Highly recommended!

One less thing to worry about!

This is my first time purchasing and using cloth pads. I wanted to wait until my period before I wrote this review, and now that I have experienced what a period can be like with cloth pads, I am HOOKED.
I will not go back to the plastic diaper-like wasteful pads of the past because these adorable flowered marvels are the future. The best way I can describe the difference between these and disposable pads is to compare sleeping on the ground versus sleeping on a tempurpedic mattress... No more uncomfortable pad-rash and chaffing from the plastic rubbing against the sensitive inner thigh. These pads were easy to clean and the little bag to hold them looked like a purse and was not embarrassing to carry to the bathroom. The best part? Nothing leaked. These are perfection. Even when there was an issue in delivering my package, Gladrags fixed the problem and sent me a personal message apologizing for the inconvenience. I will be buying again in the future.

      Perfect

This is exactly what I needed to get me through my period. I already cloth diaper my babies to changing to cloth pads myself was easy and I wish I would have done it sooner as they are much more comfortable, less smelly, and better for the environment than disposable products.

      Very Happy

Before making the switch to reusable products, I did a bit of online research. Gald Rags kept coming up as being one of the best companies. I am so glad I tried them. I am very happy with my products. They are very comfortable and I like the various different sizes provided.

      Expectations exceeded

I've wanted to switch to reusables for a while, ever since I've switched to a cup I've often found wearing backup pads to be a waste since my period is light, it just made economic and ecological sense to invest in these. After receiving my package and trying them out, I was very impressed and surprised by how soft the pads are. I've only washed them a few times, but they seem to be very well made. I ordered the floral ones and got the pre-soak set for discreet soaking. (The biokleen smells amazing btw) The florals are so pretty I almost didn't want to use them, but they are manageable to get clean again as long as you soak them promptly. (If you really don't want to worry about stains though, go with black) The most impressive thing about these pads though is how breathable they are compared to disposables. I was skeptical, but since they don't have a plastic liner trapping all the sweat & moisture, it makes it much easier for it to bre
      athe, making them unfathomably comfortable.

Top 5 Questions From People Thinking About Switching:

      Will they leak?

They do not have a plastic liner in them, they will eventually leak through (like a tampon!). How fast you bleed through them depends on how heavy your flow is, and also how thin your menstrual blood is.

Use one insert for light flow and two for moderate flow, and change pads as you would a disposable, and you'll be worry free!

      How do I wash them?

Lots of people worry they'll be hard to wash. But it's easy! You can just machine wash and dry with your normal laundry.

There's more extensive laundering information below and you can make it as much of a process as you want, but it can really be as simple as that.

Are cloth pads bulkier than disposables?

Most customers say that they feel softer and more comfortable than disposables.

Can we talk about ... odor?

The elephant in the room: Are they going to smell?

Cotton breathes better than plastic pads and does not contain any chemical gels. So our pads do not have that gross 'disposable pad' smell that everyone hates. Most people worry that reusable pads will be like that x10, but they're not.

If you empty out your carry bag of used pads daily, smells are generally a non issue. You can also rinse your GladRags out with cool water before putting them in the laundry if you do notice anything.

Why do most people start with a kit?

      • Save more than buying individually
      • Make the transition easier by having what you need onhand at all stages of your cycle
      • Get a cute, PFAS-free, waterproof carrying case so you're always prepared
      • Change can be hard, but it's much easier if you start with a SYSTEM, and not just a few pads.

      FAQ

HOW MANY PADS DO I NEED?

Most people start with 8-12 pads and have to wash 1-2 times during their cycle. If you're new to cloth pads, we recommend a Cloth Pad Starter Kit (or Starter Kit Plus), using that for a few cycles and figuring out what else you need to complete your collection.

      HOW LONG DO THEY LAST?

We guarantee our pads to last at least 5 years with proper care. Hundreds of customers have told us that their pads lasted at least 10 years before they replaced them (or menopause started)! Personally, I've been using the same pads for over 12.

Our cost savings estimates are all based on 5 years of use, but if you actually use them for 10 years, imagine how much more you'll save!

CAN THEY BE USED FOR LIGHT INCONTINENCE?

They sure can. While GladRags were originally designed for menstruation, it didn't take long to start hearing from customers that they were being used for light leaks. That's not something we talk about enough as a culture, but light incontinence impacts 1/3 of women! They're a wonderful alternative to disposables.

Most people find that the pantyliner plus is the perfect light incontinence solution. For a little more peace of mind (or the ability to swap out the insert for a new one), the Day Pad is the other go-to option.

      CLEANING & CARE

Caring for your cloth pads is simple. Follow our easy step-by-step instructions to ensure your GladRags will stay in great condition for years to come.

Easy care: Machine washable with standard detergent. Designed to retain absorbency and shape wash after wash.

Detailed Cloth Pad Cleaning & Care:

After use, separate the inserts from the holder. Pantyliners do not have inserts.
Soak in cold water, if desired, to help prevent staining. Use the presoak function on your washing machine, or soak in a covered rust-proof container. Change soaking water daily.
Machine wash cold using a natural detergent and tumble dry low or line dry. Do not use bleach or fabric softener. You may hand wash pads if desired.
Remove pads from dryer promptly and store flat to eliminate wrinkling; use cool iron if desired. Store your pads in a clean, dry place until next use.

Avoid using detergents with fabric softeners or whiteners/brighteners as these can inhibit the absorbency of your cloth pads. Try these plastic-free, non-toxic laundry detergent sheets from our friends at Zero Waste Cartel! Be aware that soaking your cloth pads in water with additives such as hydrogen peroxide can degrade the fabric and lead to holes. For this reason, we recommend utilizing stain removers as spot treatments and do not advise soaking cloth pads in water treated with peroxide-based stain removers.

We do not recommend the use of castile soap, facial soap, or other soaps not intended for textile laundering. Excess detergent may lead to build up, which can limit the absorbency of your cloth pads. While we have many customers that use homemade detergents with great success, cloth pads laundered with homemade detergent are not covered under our warranty. Full warranty information is available here.

A note about staining: Soaking your GladRags in cold water or pre-treating with an enzymatic cleanser immediately after using are two simple ways to prevent staining. However, light staining does not indicate that your laundered cloth pads are not clean or sanitary!

To clean your GladRags Carry Bag, simply wipe the bag with a damp cloth or machine wash cold, then air dry or tumble dry low.
