I like it so far, it's pretty thick. My last pads became so worn I could go through them in just a few hours.

These are really great! I love using the liners for my last two days of my period when I'm not bleeding enough to want to use my menstrual cup. My only critic is that the fabric around the clasp isn't tight enough against your underwear and I feel it has too much fabric room for me. I did pick the right size as well but it's still manageable. I just wish it was a bit closer to my underwear. Otherwise the shipping and everything was really great and it was fun to pick colors out!💕

    Game Changer!

These pads are so comfortable! They breathe so much better than disposable pads, so I don’t feel all sweaty and uncomfortable throughout the day. I love that I am doing my part to reduce waste, but I am not sacrificing my comfort either. Would definitely recommend!!

I really wanted to like them

I was getting fed up with having to buy and waste so many pads that I finally decided to try reusable ones. I liked that these are made of just organic cotton. Unfortunately they felt a bit too bulky for me, but if I were to take out the extra layer I would bleed right through. Wearing a wad of dry fabric is just too uncomfortable for me, plus I was worried about it bulging out and being noticeable if I'm wearing pants. I am a bit disappointed and will probably only use these as a backup to wear at home on my lighter days. Sorry, just had to be honest.

    Sensitive Skin Saver

I bought six of these to give them a good, honest try through my April cycle last year and will never go back to disposables. My initial mission was to reduce the waste I was producing. Mission accomplished.
I am also very, very pleased to have found that these don't irritate my eczema prone skin nearly as much as plastic backed disposables did. I would recommend these to everyone who uses pads just for being so darn comfy and breathable. Thank you, GladRags! <3

Tried and true for over 20 years!

I have had a set of organic unbleached Glad Rags in all the sizes for over 20 years and they are still holding up to monthly use. I am SO glad I invested in them way back when! Over time, most of the covers have developed some staining but I keep that to a minimum by soaking them in cold water right away, and sometimes adding Biokleen Bac-Out directly to the stain or to the laundry. Hanging them out on the line in the bright summer sun also fades the staining. They are not as soft as they once were but I don't mind that or how they look, since I am basically the only one who sees them. They serve their purpose. I have never had a leak through to clothing and I love how much money and landfill space I have saved over the years. They have more than paid for themselves. In fact, now that I am approaching menopause, I wish there were a way I could pass my set on to some girl or woman somewhere in the world who can't afford menstrual products. I highly recommend Glad Rags and specifically, the unbleached organic cotton kind, to anyone!

    Love these!

"Like sitting on a cloud!" I've exclaimed multiple times since getting these, and then I actually just noticed another review mentions that too! These are so soft, comfy, and easy! Thank you for creating these!

    The best!

I’ve been using your products since the 90’s because I love them. They’re soft, absorbent, and eliminate waste in the landfill. An all around winner!

    Good, but not great.

Good quality, but the pad slides around a lot. I find myself having to go to the restroom simply to readjust the position of the pad and this gets frustrating for me. However, I'll take that any day over the toxic chemicals in conventional period products...

    Hi Zoë,
Thanks so much for sharing your experience! We do have some tips to help with sliding pads! With cloth pads, we recommend wearing tight fitting cotton underwear; the cotton should help create friction and stop the pad from sliding around. :) I hope this helped!

    These pads are fantastic

I only wish I had found these sooner. They are comfortable and are perfect for all of my days, from lightest to heaviest. Having the option of changing out how many of the inserts to use makes them very versatile. I would highly recommend these to anyone!

    Best investment EVER

I have been using these for about 20 years. I still have the very first ones I bought. Think of how much money I’ve saved over buying disposables!!! And no plastic floating in the ocean. I recommend every woman give them a try. Cleaning is so easy especially if you buy dark colored ones. I just throw them in the shower with me at the end of the day. Then they go through the wash with my clothes. No fuss. All comfort. Best. Ever.

    Impressed!

I have used SheThinx underwear for several years, but find I occasionally need to supplement those with a pad. So I re-invested in Glad Rags. I am very impressed by how absorbent they are and how soft they feel! I would recommend them :)

    Longest Lasting Pad Ever

I was given a set of 4 of these by my mom when she went through menopause. I don't know how long she had them, but they were fairly lightly used, and still in good condition. At least since the early 2000s. Now, they are finally starting to wear out, and they don't stay in place in my underwear very well. Going to retire them, but am so grateful that these were introduced to my life.

Helps Save Money & Mother Earth

I have been exclusively using a menstrual cup for years. After having a child, I found I needed a little extra protection as my periods were heavier. I bought all the GladRags pad sizes to have the option to forego the menstrual cup if I wanted for a period cycle. They are all wonderful! I don't wear the liners with silky underwear as they slide a little. They don't slide on cotton underwear. The organic cotton pads are SO COMFORTABLE! I will be using these for my second child postpartum instead of the disposable pads from the hospital. Thank you GladRags for making such a wonderful product that I will use for years and prevent unnecessary waste to be sent to the landfill.

    I'm in love

These pads are absolutely amazing--I'm so comfortable wearing them for regular post-partum drips as well as menstrual periods. I feel dry and never smelly like I felt in plastic coated lads. Thanks for an awesome product!

    Great product

I have been using Glad Rags for close to 20 years, first when I was still menstruating and now for mild urinary incontinence. They last for years and years, but will eventually lose their softness. To take out any staining I simply wash and then dry them in full sun. The sun bleaches out all stains.

Best cotton pad I ever had!

There are not so many brand has organic, chemical free and undyed pads. I saw this brand on Rawganique 1st time, and this is indeed a gift from god for me :D
    1. Some brands has strips in middle, the pad would be twisted after few use. This brand don't use that design so its way more comfortable.
2.It's dye and chemical free, which is more healthy to use.
    Love it!

    Highly absorbent

These are super soft and comfortable! I ordered a few extra inserts but was pleasantly surprised that I didn't even need them because this material is ultra absorbent. I used two inserts and I barely bled through one insert on my heaviest day and I wore it all day long. You do need to soak them with an enzyme cleaner immediately after use to prevent staining. I just soaked mine in plain water and although it helped somewhat there was still staining afterwards. It doesn't bother me but wanted to pass the information along to others. Overall, this is a wonderful product and I will be purchasing more in the future.

The most comfutable reusable pads I ever had!

I had tried multiple brands of organic reusable menstrual pads, and this is the most comfortable & healthy one I ever had. It's made with organic cotton, and unbleached & undyed. So if you are seeking a green, healthy, organic, and comfortable choice, this would be a very great one!

    Best Buy Ever!

I absolutely love this product and highly recommend to everyone I know! The organic day pad is so comfortable and soft, I no longer have any skin irritation during my period which is wonderful. I also love how the pads come with two inserts, so you can put in either none, one, or two inserts depending on your flow for that day which is really nice. I will be honest, my pads have stained after several times of use, however I do not wash them immediately as I don't want to have to do an entire wash just for one pad, so I wait until I have about three. Whether this is the reason for the staining or not, I'm not sure, however it doesn't bother me at all because I know they are clean and it's not like I'm wearing these on the outside so no one will ever see. It gives me such peace of mind knowing I am wearing an organic product that is good for my body, especially in such a delicate, permeable area of the body.

    Excellent product

I love these pads. I love that they are made from breathable organic cotton. They work very well. I highly recommend them to women who wants to support their reproductive health and the health of the planet at the same time because chemicals and synthetic materials that are found in conventional menstrual pads or tampons do not belong near our bodies or in the landfills either.

    So
Why didn't I learn about these sooner!

I have loved cloth diapering my kids for several years now and just discovering cloth pads for me. Wish I'd known this was an option years ago. So excited that my girls will grow up knowing that this is an option for them. Bought 6 daytime organics and 3 night-time. Has been more than enough for my needs. Rarely need both inserts. Often use without the inserts as a panty liner without needing to buy the specific pantyliners.

I wear these during the day and at night-and they've worked great for me. Easy to take care of, comfortable, worth the investment.

Top 5 Questions From People Thinking About Switching:

    Do they REALLY save money?

There's a lot of talk out there about saving money over time, but the math doesn't always add up. Ours does.

Exact amounts vary based on what type of disposable pads you use, and how many you use per period, but a low average assumes 25 pads per cycle (5 pads/day for 5 days) or 300 pads per year, totaling approximately $450 over 5 years. If you buy 'natural' or Organic pads, the 5 year cost is more like $1,070–$1,430. And disposable pad costs have risen 40%+ since 2020, so who knows what they'll be in 5 years!

Our Conventional Deluxe Kit costs $288 and the Organic version is $345, and they're guaranteed to last 5 years. So over 5 years, you're going to save $100-162. At the bare minimum.

And if you currently buy Organic pads, and your new GladRags last longer than 5 years (many customers use them for 10!), You could be saving $2500+ over the next 10 years!

    Will they leak?

They do not have a plastic liner in them, they will eventually leak through (like a tampon!). How fast you bleed through them depends on how heavy your flow is, and also how thin your menstrual blood is.

Use one insert for light flow and two for moderate flow, and change pads as you would a disposable, and you'll be worry free!

    How do I wash them?

Lots of people worry they'll be hard to wash. But it's easy! You can just machine wash and dry with your normal laundry.

There's more extensive laundering information below and you can make it as much of a process as you want, but it can really be as simple as that.

Are cloth pads bulkier than disposables?

Most customers say that they feel softer and more comfortable than disposables.

Can we talk about ... odor?

The elephant in the room: Are they going to smell?

Cotton breathes better than plastic pads and does not contain any chemical gels. So our pads do not have that gross 'disposable pad' smell that everyone hates. Most people worry that reusable pads will be like that x10, but they're not.

If you empty out your carry bag of used pads daily, smells are generally a non issue. You can also rinse your GladRags out with cool water before putting them in the laundry if you do notice anything.

    New to Reusable Pads?

Start with a kit. Most customers appreciate:

    • Starting with enough pads for a cycle
    • Getting the best value
    • Easier transition with different styles to choose at different parts of their cycle

    FAQ

HOW MANY PADS DO I NEED?

Most people start with 8-12 pads and have to wash 1-2 times during their cycle. If you're new to cloth pads, we recommend a Cloth Pad Starter Kit (or Starter Kit Plus), using that for a few cycles and figuring out what else you need to complete your collection.

    HOW LONG DO THEY LAST?

We guarantee our pads to last at least 5 years with proper care. Hundreds of customers have told us that their pads lasted at least 10 years before they replaced them (or menopause started)! Personally, I've been using the same pads for over 12.

Our cost savings estimates are all based on 5 years of use, but if you actually use them for 10 years, imagine how much more you'll save!

CAN THEY BE USED FOR LIGHT INCONTINENCE?

They sure can. While GladRags were originally designed for menstruation, it didn't take long to start hearing from customers that they were being used for light leaks. That's not something we talk about enough as a culture, but light incontinence impacts 1/3 of women! They're a wonderful alternative to disposables.

Most people find that the pantyliner plus is the perfect light incontinence solution. For a little more peace of mind (or the ability to swap out the insert for a new one), the Day Pad is the other go-to option.

    CLEANING & CARE

Caring for your cloth pads is simple. Follow our easy step-by-step instructions to ensure your GladRags will stay in great condition for years to come.

Easy care: Machine washable with standard detergent. Designed to retain absorbency and shape wash after wash.

Detailed Cloth Pad Cleaning & Care:

After use, separate the inserts from the holder. Pantyliners do not have inserts.
Soak in cold water, if desired, to help prevent staining. Use the presoak function on your washing machine, or soak in a covered rust-proof container. Change soaking water daily.
Machine wash cold using a natural detergent and tumble dry low or line dry. Do not use bleach or fabric softener. You may hand wash pads if desired.
Remove pads from dryer promptly and store flat to eliminate wrinkling; use cool iron if desired. Store your pads in a clean, dry place until next use.

Avoid using detergents with fabric softeners or whiteners/brighteners as these can inhibit the absorbency of your cloth pads. Try these plastic-free, non-toxic laundry detergent sheets from our friends at Zero Waste Cartel! Be aware that soaking your cloth pads in water with additives such as hydrogen peroxide can degrade the fabric and lead to holes. For this reason, we recommend utilizing stain removers as spot treatments and do not advise soaking cloth pads in water treated with peroxide-based stain removers.

We do not recommend the use of castile soap, facial soap, or other soaps not intended for textile laundering. Excess detergent may lead to build up, which can limit the absorbency of your cloth pads. While we have many customers that use homemade detergents with great success, cloth pads laundered with homemade detergent are not covered under our warranty. Full warranty information is available here.

A note about staining: Soaking your GladRags in cold water or pre-treating with an enzymatic cleanser immediately after using are two simple ways to prevent staining. However, light staining does not indicate that your laundered cloth pads are not clean or sanitary!

To clean your GladRags Carry Bag, simply wipe the bag with a damp cloth or machine wash cold, then air dry or tumble dry low.
